FERD TERADO

INSTRUCTOR PROFILE
Ferd Terado is a Certified Professional Instructor [Guro] and has been training in the Pekiti-Tirsia Kali [PTK-SMF] combat system for about 10 years and is a direct student of Tuhon Tim Waid. He founded the Pekiti-Tirsia Kali Kidlat training group  that is currently based in San Diego, CA.

MARTIAL ART BACKGROUND

Ferd began his martial arts education at 17 years old in Okinawan Goju-ryu karate. He later dabbled in other martial art systems such as Hung Gar Gung-Fu, Muay Thai and Capoeira. His first exposure to Filipino martial arts was in the art of Kalis-Ilustrisimo and a hybrid style called The Defensor Method,  which is comprised of Serrada Escrima, Silat and of course Pekiti-Tirsia among others. After moving to the San Francisco Bay, he trained briefly in Jeet Kune Do and Inosanto/Lacoste Kali before finally choosing to train exclusively in Pekiti-Tirsia Kali.

TIP OF THE SPEAR
Sporting a signature mohawk and tactical kilt, Ferd became well-known as the Pekiti-Tirsia Kali Authority in the San Francisco Bay, CA and served as the exemplar of the PTK-SMF professional standards and code of conduct; he was the original Founder/Instructor of the PTK-Peninsula/PTK-SMF Peninsula affiliate training group in San Mateo/Foster City, CA and actively promoted Pekiti-Tirsia Kali in the Bay area by teaching group classes, seminars, and workshops, as well as collaborate with other instructors in the Filipino Martial Arts community in training events and Filipino festivals.
 
Ferd spearheaded the annual Magkatipunan events in Foster City, CA to celebrate the anniversary of the PTK-SMF Peninsula training group, and where practitioners from different FMA systems can come together for a day of sparring and camaraderie, as well as support and promote local FMA businesses. He has been a guest instructor at the The Serrada Escrima: Legacy 6 FMA Conference at the American Legion Post 510 in San Francisco and at The Martial Arts Cultural Exchange [MACE] hosted by VEA Martial Arts Academy in Manteca, CA.
